Please Allow Me to Introduce Myself

What does the Lower East Side, music, film, theater mean to me, as I take the reins of CPF?
I started interviewing musicians from the original CPF incarnation, "The Fall Collection". Everyone I spoke with had a similar take on CPF/TFC: it gave them a platform, and it gave them a community of like-minded and interested people.
New York, and specifically the Lower East Side – where the festival takes its name—is more than a place; it is a collective of similarly driven people, whether in business, politics, public service or the arts. You can write a hagiography of a building or a neighborhood, but ultimately it is a dead place. It is the people that enervate and actualize it. Music, theater and film are all necessarily engaging of the audience with the creator, and it is this which gives this city and this neighborhood its importance as a seminal place in American and world history.
It is my hope as Executive Producer of Crown Point Festival to continue the tradition that Kelly began and see this festival grow into something even more important and vital to New York's cultural economy than it already is.
